  42. In Captive, some of the wall sections are mounted on "rollers", and can
  43. be pushed out of the way...
  44.  
  45. Butre has one such wall section in the "entryway"...  check the documentaion
  46. (such as it is) to see how to push a wall section...

  59. In september last year, Vortex has launched their 386SX emulator for
  60. MEGA STE only.
  61.  
  62. Last night I saw an add for the Vortex emulators and they noted that
  63. they had a 386SX emulator for ST and MEGA ST aswell.
  64. As told before it does run DOS5.0 and windows3.0 etc..

  84. well, I'm a user of an AT-Speed(producer: SACK-Electronics) with an
  85.  C286-Processor on it.
  86. Yes, there are no slots available an this board, and there's also no memory on
  87.  it, but the ST-ram is fully used via XMA memory-access.
  88. the BIOS is able to show MONO-VGA, MONO-EGA, AT&T(640x400) monochrom, and
  89.  CGA/MGA, at a cpu-speed of 16MHz, which is about a Norton-Index of 8.2. And the
  90.  most important thing is, almost every software runs.
  91. The support is a little lossy, but the manual make the board easy to install
  92.  upon your 68000 CPU.
  93.  
  94. There is a product having the same technical facts(286, 16MHz, 68k-hookup,
  95.  ST-memory-access,....) from VORTEX, and there is also a board containing a
  96.  386sx cpu .
  97. this board brings full 386(will mean protected) mode, XMA, EMS is supported,
  98.  windows runs fully in protected mode, VGA, EGA, AT&T, CGA
  99. and as a option 512k fast-ram on board for full 32bit bus-access.
  100. without fastram there's a NI from about 9.2 to 10.3, having fastram installed,
  101.  it is 15.2.
  102. And looking at thhe dollar-table, in this moment $1.00 costs about
  103. DM 1.60, it will be about 500 to 600 USDollars.
  104. But, living in germany, I really don't know whether there is a distributor in
  105.  the United States.

  112. The Supercharger is a PC-Clone developed by Bela-Systems, using an own mainboard
  113.  with own Ram-proms, and it contains about 3 slots for PC-cartridges, as VGA or
  114.  anything else; you can use both, PC and TRARARI simultanously, and it is
  115.  connected to your ATARI's DMA port.

  165. You can force a Mac to write a DOS disk. Threre a 2 programs available to do
  166. this job: Access PC and DOS mounter. A DOS-Disk under DOS mounter behaves just
  167. like a Mac-disk. If it is possible to install one of these programs on aladin,
  168. it should'nt be a problem to excange disk's with a mac.

  256. Magnavox RGB Monitor 80.  This monitor accepts both digital RGB and
  257. color composite signals, and has a front switch so you can go between
  258. them on the fly.  Looks to be about a 13 inch screen.  Has sound capability
  259. (RCA jack input).  In very good condition.  I used this monitor in
  260. composite mode on my Amiga until I got an analog RGB monitor for it.  You
  261. can hook up such things as an IBM computer (with CGA card), VCR, Nintendo,
  262. Atari XL/XE and Commodore 64/128.  Asking $110 or best offer.  Owner's
  263. manual is included so you can make specialty cables for the RGB port.

  265. BMI monochrome monitor.  A little old, but works just fine.  Green
  266. phosphor display, no sound.  Ideal for use on older computers like
  267. the Apple II series (which did not require sound).  RCA jack for video

  270. Zenith Data Systems 2400 baud modem.  Only used a few hours.  This is
  271. a "standard" modem, with Hayes compatibility and a size that fits easily

  275. Microcom AX/2400C modem.  This is a 2400 baud modem featuring MNP

  347. Are you trying to say that your Amiga 3000-25 is faster or even close the
  348. speed of a 68040-25 NeXT? Obviously, either the numbers presented above are
  349. wrong or unfair (which it seems so to me), or the NeXT has a bad design.

  391. this past weekend, with a total of about 20 hours (realtime) to complete
  392. the game.

  413. I have been using hyperformatted disks (11-sectors/track) ever
  414. since I bought Scheibenkleister. A few weeks ago I bought a PC
  415. and assumed the High density drive would be able to handle 11
  416. sectors per track. I was wrong, I am unable to read the disks.
  417. Does anyone know whether it is possible to read Hyperformatted
  418. disk on a PC. The problem isn't DOS (PC-speed works fine with
  419. these disks), so what is the problem?
  420.

  422. question, but I tried it in the PC groups but it seems noone even
  423. heard of Hyperformat...

  461. Or you can use the 'novice' command set, which isn't case sensitive. I
  462. believe the command to extract is -extract i.e. type

  467. ZOOBOY. You're better off using a CLI, say, Gulam. (That's only my

  479.         Looks like the latest Mint has broken the handy utility known as
  480. Manager.  Manager was my favorite Mint program.  I hope there is a fix soon,
  481. or I hope I am mistaken.  It's that after a few seconds in the Manager
  482. environment the system totally freezes, but whn I go back tio Mint08 or
  483. Mint07, everything is OK.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

  492. I don't often post to here very much anymore, but I noticed people
  493. saying that the new monitor was 'out soon'. Well, I was working in a
  494. computer shop over the Christmas holidays, and we had one in and sold it
  495. straight away. So I assume in the UK it's available already.
  496.  
  497. I didn't actually get to see the picture, but the construction looked
  498. OK. A bit of an 'old-fashioned' feel to it somehow, but generally fine.
  499. I would critise the base, however. The built-in plinth was quite
  500. definitely bowed under the weight of the monitor it was designed to
  501. support. Not very reassuring, really...

  524. As some of you may know, I'll be graduating this May.  When I was
  525. filling out grad school applications, the idea for a recommendation from
  526. the usenet atari community as a whole crossed my mind as something that
  527. would be pretty interesting (especially considering how much time I spend
  528. with doing archive related stuff :)  ).

  530. With this in mind, please consider writing a brief note, saying
  531. what you think my chances for to complete a graduate degree in
  532. statistics are.  I realize this is quite difficult, but there are some
  533. aspects of my work that some of you have certainly had contact with, such
  534. as my organizational skills, my writing ability (Remember the ftp guide, etc.),
  535. my teaching ability (ever try to help someone set up gnu c over email,
  536. a question at a time?), and so on.
  537.  
  538. Here's how we've set this up to work:
  539.  
  540. 1.  You decide you'd like to help me out.  You then send a brief
  541. not to Fred Swartz, the archive administrator, who has agreed to accept
  542. letters.  His address is archive-admin@archive.umich.edu.
  543.  
  544. 2.  Fred will collect them, print them out, and enclose them in the
  545. sealed envelope.  I will NOT see these, unless you specifically state
  546. that you'd like me to in your letter.
  547.  
  548. 3.  Fred will vouch for the authenticity of the e-mail, and sign all the forms.
  549.  
  550.  
  551. That's really about it.  Hopefully, admissions committees will look at
  552. this as something original and then with this and everything else admit
  553. me to their graduate program in statistics.
  554.  
  555. For the record, I'm currently interested in U of Washington, U of
  556. Minnesota, U of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Carnegie-Mellon.  There
  557. is a number of other schools that I am considering applying to also, but
  558. for now these four are it.

  625. What about source? I can't use binaries compiled with dLibs, as they crash
  626. under MiNT.I  installed 2.0 for a laugh by compiling under the GCC as the
  627. "UNIX"-hosted cross-compiler version (GCC on my ST, that is).

  642. bugaboo.prg, then to quit it by typing RESIDENT.
